Reviewed: El Nido Lagen Island Resort

The most beautiful natural place in the world is how our reviewer described Lagen Island, and when you take into account the beauty of the volcanic limestone cliffs, lush forest and picturesque turquoise lagoon - it's hard to argue with that.

Nestled among all of that natural beauty is El Nido’s Lagen Island Resort, a small eco-friendly resort that values its relationship with its surroundings. Owned by Ayala Group, one of the largest property companies in Asia, this small 51 room resort is a hidden gem offering tranquility, relaxation and terrific service. The hotel attracts divers and water sports enthusiasts from all over the world who want to experience the crystal clear lagoon waters on offer. With kayaking, snorkelling, paddle-boarding and fishing - it’s little wonder that Lagen Island attracts many visitors each year. There is plenty to do out of the water to do as well, hiking around the island is popular and the resort offers a number of sporting activities to guests. In close proximity to the island resort are some of the Philippines most beautiful islands and there are regular island hopping trips available.

As previously mentioned, this is an eco-resort so you need to be aware of that before our stay. While it causes some minor inconveniences such as plastic bottles being banned in the resort, it is refreshing to see that the local wildlife is unencumbered by the resort. The rooms are comfortable without being overly luxurious, but the water villas have spectacular views of the lagoon and the sunset. Guests staying at the resort can be met at Manila airport and transferred through the airport and to the resort included in the room fee. After a short one hour & 15 minute flight from Mania on an ATR aircraft, you will take a 45 minute boat ride to the resort.

Other resort amenities include a fantastic clubhouse restaurant that uses locally sourced fresh products, for an extra small fee they will cook up any haul you bring in while fishing, a beach bar and a spa featuring a range of services and treatments.

This is a true VIP experience for anyone heading to the Philippines and even those who haven’t considered up until now!
