The vast, unending oceans that encompass the beautiful 1000 coral islands that make up this tropical paradise are the perfect hiding place for travellers seeking a luxury getaway unlike any other. Five-star resorts, endless pampering and world class cuisine may be the norm for guests in the Maldives, but visitors must be aware of the contrast in which locals go about their daily life. Luxury stays are the norm here but there are also more humble accommodations to be found here too.

Get There

Get In

Virtually all international travellers will enter the country via Male International Airport (MLE). Flights arrive on many major international airlines and destinations, most major regional destinations like South-East Asia, the Middle East, India & China on a regular basis. There are also direct flights from European destinations London, Frankfurt, Istanbul and Vienna.

The Maldives operate a simple visa policy, all arrivals can get a 30 day visa on arrival as long as they have sufficient funds to support themselves and a ticket out of the country.

Get Around

Once you arrive in the Maldives, getting around can be difficult and quite expensive. There are inexpensive and infrequent public ferries which travel between the different population centres. However, these can be unreliable and should only be used by those with time to spare.

Private transfers are the way that nearly all travellers get around either via private ferry or sea plane. Both can be arranged with your resort or hotel after you've booked, but be warned they can be very expensive.

If you want to experience the vacation of a lifetime in the Maldives then get in touch with one of our experienced travel planners now. They can arrange everything for you from flights, resort transfers and day excursions!
