Finland’s vibrant capital of Helsinki offers the very best of Scandinavia, with plenty to keep you coming back for more, time and time again.
Helsinki isn’t just one of the best cities in Scandinavia, but in Europe. The city has plenty of historic and fascinating sites, as well as great food, culture and natural beauty. The city can act as a jumping in point for exploring the magnificent Finland or the surrounding Baltic nations. Helsinki is more than you can imagine, and just waiting to be explored.
Helsinki has a large international airport that services destinations all across Finland, Europe and the rest of the World. There are also train services available from the city to take you across Finland and into Russia as well. In addition, ferries can also take you across to Estonia, as well as Germany, Sweden and a handful of other destinations.
WHEN TO GO
If you want to avoid Finland's extreme cold - then avoid the months between November and March. If you are planning to enjoy some time in the snow, then Helsinki really isn't the best place to do so and you'd be better going further afield in Finland. The summer months are really pleasant in Helsinki and really show off the best of the city.
